Author Biography
Hi! My name is Brandy Mars and I grew up on an apple orchard in the middle of the forest in British Columbia. I live with my wife, our one cat named Kat, and one dog named Bettie. My art is mostly about LGBTQ love, the West Coast, and inspired by music artists. Since 2016 I have been working on my small business creating unique, funny LGBTQ greeting cards, cups, clothing, and art prints, and now this book which I’m very excited to share with you. My shop has something for everyone.
It has been a beautiful and meaningful way to connect to the gay community and I love that my funny cards bring joy to people worldwide. Customers often email me with personal stories about why they are buying the cards and these moments of human connection and love are what keep me creating. From grieving, to elderly couples who see themselves in my paintings, to new romantic relationships, and celebrating achievements, all of these moments are what makes life meaningful. Human connection and sharing these experiences is the essence of humanity and what we need more of in an era where many people feel isolated and disconnected due to the pace of life, technological advances, and not being accepted because of their LGBTQ identity. I participate annually in many local events such as the Gay Pride Parade, LGBTQ Union Wedding Show, Dyke March, and local artisan events. Art is important for community and cultural growth.
