Secret Agents Defang a Dragon is a ripping good read that revolves around a group of young people working together to save democracy in Canada. Though this is a work of fiction, students will be concerned that many similar events have already happened in Canada, and that democratic nations around the world are under threats, domestic and international. This novel is a great support to learning in Canadian Social Studies programs.

The fast-paced intrique sees the teens, with the help of adult allies, use their ingenuity and resourcefulness in an attempt to foil the plot. Under the guise of a mystery, this must-read teen novel transmits a vital message regarding the fragility of democracy and the need for citizens to be ever vigilant. The book fosters discussion, introspection and analysis with a great many teachable moments.
