ABOUT THIS EDITION This book was published in 2007 as Wildlife Watch on an Alaska Cruise. Since that time some Alaska cruise itineraries have changed, and different companies have come and gone. Alaska’s spectacular natural beauty has not changed, though, and there is a strong demand for resources to help visitors appreciate the natural wonders. There have been minor corrections to the text, and revisions to reflect such changes as the improving status of Humpback Whales in the North Pacific. Most noticeable to former readers will be the inclusion of many improved images. Many readers took the time to offer comments and suggestions about the first edition, most of which have been incorporated. Several suggested that the title was awkward, so the title of this edition is Alaska Cruise Wildlife Watch.
Author Biography
Bruce Whittington Author, photographer and naturalist Bruce Whittington researched and wrote the text. Bruce, who spends part of the year as an on-board naturalist for cruises along the West Coast, recently published Wildlife Wafch on an Alaska Cruise. Seasons with Birds, his first book, is an illustrated collection of essays that introduces readers to birds and birding on southern Vancouver Island. Bruce wrote Island Birds, a weekly column in the Victoria Times-Colonist for more than 10 years. He continues to write articles and lead courses and field trips for naturalists. Bruce lives in Ladysmith, British Columbia.
