Tim Hanley – LADY BLACK

A Yukon Murder Mystery

In 1933, the Yukon Territory is in the tight grip of the Depression. From the remote village of Porter’s Landing, to the dark side of Dawson City— where it’s fair game to “mine the miners”—follow the adventures of a rich cast of characters as real and honest and flawed as all of us. Young Jack Marian never guessed that his summer job, working for his mentor high in the Yukon hills, would bring forth such depths of greed and evil. The deadly chain of events leads from the blackness of the Turn Again gold mine, to a desperate adventure on board the sternwheeler “Lady Black”, to raucous bars and taverns where murderous plots are hatched. All in the quest for another man’s gold—and a harbinger of the worldwide evil to come. Behind it all, a story of a love that was missed and then reached for.

Praise

Gold, Murder and Mayhem! Journey Back in time to the dangerous and wild days that followed Dawson’s fall from grace, in this very suspenseful fictional crime novel, “Lady Black”, by Tim Hanley. Lots of twists and turns in the plot along with a very descriptive narrative that makes it difficult to put the novel down until you are done. A real “page turner”!

Tim’s engaging story of intrigue based in 1930’s Yukon, was a non-stop read from start to finish. The richness of the characters, the unique Canadian north context, and the history and mystery of the gold trade made this book not only a great read, but has placed an adventure to the Yukon squarely on my bucket list! Tim is clearly a talented story teller and I look forward to more from this emerging Canadian author.
